Coldplay set record in UAE with four-night run

Coldplay have recently completed a record-breaking four-night run of concerts at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City Stadium, as more than 200,000 people attended the sold-out shows according to Live Nation Middle East.

It marks the largest and longest series of shows by a major international artist in the United Arab Emirates, surpassing the approximately 69,000 fans who attended Ed Sheeran’s two concerts at Dubai’s Sevens Stadium last year.

The shows, which were part of the Music of the Spheres World Tour, saw the British band perform a setlist featuring hits from their previous albums as well as songs from their most recent work titled Moon Music.

The concert series was presented by Live Nation Middle East and supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin had previously admitted that the band is considering retirement once their 12th album is released.

However, Live Nation Middle East president James Craven suggested that there could be a future collaboration with Coldplay.

“At Live Nation Middle East, we take immense pride in creating unforgettable events for the region, and it has been an honour to bring Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour to the UAE,” he said, as reported by Time Out Dubai.

“Organising the region’s largest concert series showcased the skill and hard work of our team, and we are deeply grateful for the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Miral, and the dedicated team at Zayed Sports City Stadium.

“We look forward to future collaborations with Coldplay and more exciting artists while continuing to deliver some of the most iconic events in the region.”

Coldplay are now in India on the next leg of the tour, which has been marred by ticket touting and has led to government intervention.
