Gurugram: One arrested for duping people on pretext of providing work permits in Malta, Canada, Dubai

One person was arrested from Gurugram for cheating people into fake work permits in different countries.

A person was arrested for duping several people on the pretext of providing overseas work permits. The alleged fraudster allegedly promised those people to get a work permit or visa in Malta, Canada, Dubai, etc. A case was registered on the complaint of one, Ayush Rana, in which he stated that he contacted a person through an Instagram page.

The contents showed that a visa would cost Rs 3 lakh for immigration, wherein Rs 55,000 would be applicable for flight ticket booking. Also, a cost of Rs 15,000 was applicable on the accused’s portal, wherein the remainder of the cost of Rs 2.3 lakh was required to pay in cash.

After due process, the accused handed over a fake flight ticket to Malta, along with a fake employment letter, and a letter through WhatsApp. A dedicated team of Cyber Police Station analysed the IP details of WhatsApp, Instagram Page, fake website Truemember and CDR of the alleged number and found that the alleged page and website were operated by accused Gaurav Gupta, a resident of Gurugram.

Thereafter, a raid was conducted in Gurugram and the accused Gaurav was arrested. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused person had cheated multiple people on the pretext of providing foreign work permits to different countries and to the tune of Rs 60 lakhs, and a count of a total of 12 victims was linked.

Sources said that the accused also run- Autoglaze Car Centre in Gurugram, and previously operated a call centre.
