Saudi Arabia Eyes Defense Deals at Paris Show

Saudi Arabia is seeking to explore partnerships and investment opportunities at the Paris Air Show 2023, which began on Monday in France.

The General Authority for Military Industries, along with its partners Saudi Arabian Military Industries and the World Defense Show, is taking part in the event to showcase the Kingdom’s progress in the defense industry. Saudi Arabia is keen on localizing the sector in line with its Vision 2030 goals, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

GAMI Gov. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali said the authority’s participation in the event is part of its efforts to enable the sector to achieve its objectives by creating strategic partnerships and networking with international investors interested in investing in the Kingdom.

Al-Ohali noted that Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to the military industries, following the directives of its wise leadership to localize various industries to enrich the national economy and boost the country’s strategic independence.

He added that GAMI officials will meet representatives of international defense companies to discuss localization projects, promote investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s military industries and facilitate their entry into Saudi Arabia in partnership with the private sector.

The official said a meeting is also scheduled with the director general of the Directorate General of Armament in France, which is GAMI’s peer agency, to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
