The Russian Defense Ministry has banned the passage of all small vessels in the waters of the Kerch Strait, according to the telegram channel of the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory.

“By the decision of the command of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the passage of all small vessels and watercraft in the Temryuk region between Capes Khroni and Achilleion and to the north of the line between Capes Takil and Panagia and the coastline is prohibited,” the message says.

Pleasure boats, sailboats, inflatable boats, jet skis, windsurfers, subboards and their analogues fall under the restriction. The ban does not apply only to ships, vessels and boats of the Navy, border guards and national guard troops.

It is also prohibited to anchor, harvest marine mammals, fish with bottom tools, blasting and other underwater activities, taking samples of bottom soil, as well as flying, hovering and splashing down aircraft.

On the night of July 17, the Crimean bridge was attacked by two Ukrainian surface drones – boats without a crew, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) reported. As a result, one span of the automobile part of the bridge was destroyed. A girl who was in a car driving across the bridge was injured , her parents died. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Art. 205 of the Criminal Code (terrorist act).

Moscow blamed Kyiv for the attack and promised to respond to it. The Ministry of Defense reported several times on “retaliation strikes”, including in Odessa.

The day before, the FSB reported a second foreign ship leaving Turkey with traces of explosives. Traces of dinitrotoluene and trotyl were found in the hold of a dry cargo ship that was sailing from the Turkish port of Sinop through the Kerch Strait to Rostov-on-Don for grain. The special service believes that the ship could previously be used to deliver explosives to the territory of Ukraine. The crew was forbidden to pass through the Kerch Strait and demanded to leave the territorial waters of Russia. The first ship with traces of explosives was discovered on 22 July.

The Kremlin did not rule out new attacks on the bridge. When asked to comment on reports of the discovery of traces of explosives on a foreign dry cargo ship, Dmitry Peskov said: “Indeed, the traces of explosives found indicate that there is a danger. This requires a constant level of heightened vigilance.”
