WSJ Learned About the Plans of Saudi Arabia to Hold Peace Talks on Ukraine

According to the newspaper, high-ranking officials from 30 countries will arrive at the meeting, which will be held from August 5 to 6 in Jeddah, but Russia is not on this list.

TASS, 29 July. Saudi Arabia plans to hold peace talks on Ukraine in early August with the participation of Western countries. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal , citing sources.

According to them, high-ranking officials from 30 countries will arrive at the meeting, which will be held from August 5 to 6 in Jeddah, but Russia is not on this list. The UK, the EU, Poland and South Africa have already confirmed their participation in the talks. According to the source, the presence of US national security adviser Jake Sullivan is now expected.

The exact number of participants in the talks is not yet known. It is assumed that the event will be attended by all countries that participated in the first international meeting on Ukraine on June 24 in Copenhagen.

On June 26 , the ARD TV channel reported that on June 24, in Copenhagen, an international meeting on Ukraine was held “in conditions of the strictest secrecy” with the participation of diplomats from Western countries, as well as representatives of Brazil, India, China and South Africa.

On July 20, Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that Ukraine was preparing a new meeting of national security advisers and political directors with the participation of representatives of the G7 and the Global South.
