Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People of Determination in Dubai, on Monday met with the Presidents of the Continental Paralympic Committees at the DSC headquarters.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor reaffirmed the UAE leadership’s commitment to empowering People of Determination and enhancing their role and contributions across various fields, including sports.
Sheikh Mansoor said that the UAE is among the leading nations in promoting the inclusion of People of Determination and has become a prominent hub for hosting international sporting events and championships for Para-athletes.
The Chairman of DSC said that the UAE had officially adopted the term People of Determination as it strongly believes in their capabilities and valuable contributions to society. “People of Determination are a key pillar of society and an essential contributor to its development,” he added.
Sheikh Mansoor also praised the Continental Paralympic Committees for their remarkable efforts in promoting the inclusivity of Para-athletes in sports through developing sporting events and launching several humanitarian initiatives. The UAE supports such endeavours and is keen to strengthen international cooperation to achieve the common objective of empowering People of Determination, he added.
The meeting, held in the presence of Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of DSC, was attended by Majid Al Osaimi, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee; Khulio Sarria, President of the American Paralympic Committee; Raymond Palundell, President of the European Paralympic Committee; Dr. Hayat Khattab, Vice President of the African Paralympic Committee; and Paul Paird, President of the Oceania Paralympic Committee.
The Presidents of the Continental Paralympic Committees commended Sheikh Mansoor for his commitment to enhancing the participation of People of Determination and providing them equal opportunities across all fields. They also expressed their appreciation to the DSC head for his interest to develop the Fazza Championships for People of Determination.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor was briefed by Osaimi on the Continental Committees’ plans and programmes in the next phase to further enhance the Paralympic movement.
Osaimi thanked Sheikh Mansoor on behalf of the other Presidents of the Continental Paralympic Committees for his ongoing efforts to support People of Determination.
The Presidents of the Continental Paralympic Committees commended the UAE’s exceptional efforts and leading role in empowering Para-athletes.
They added that the UAE has shown remarkable success in hosting international championships that support the mission and objectives of the Paralympic Committees across the world, which seek to enhance the participation of People of Determination in sports.
At the end of the meeting, the Presidents of the Continental Paralympic Committees presented a memorial trophy to Sheikh Mansoor in recognition of his efforts to empower People of Determination and enhance their inclusion in society.
