Tajikistan is Dealing With the Consequences of a Natural Disaster

In several settlements of Tajikistan, work continues to eliminate the damage caused by the disaster. The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the government of the republic writes about this. The department reported on the intermediate stages of work.

Last Sunday, August 27, a mudflow hit a number of settlements.

In the city of Vakhdat, in the rural jamoats named after N. Rozik, Simiganj, Chuyangaron and Ramit, work to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster has been completed. More than 500 residents of these villages, together with 40 military personnel of the military unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, participated in cleaning water pipes, the territory of residential buildings, roads and personal plots. The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense allocated 8 units of engineering equipment to carry out work to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. These actions resulted in the clearing of culverts and one road bridge.

In the village of Gusgarfi, Varzob district, servicemen of the military unit of the Committee cleared the surroundings of houses and auxiliary structures from the mud and stone mass.

In the Rudaki region in the rural jamoats of Rohati Choryakkoron, Chorteppa, Navobod and Sarikishti, work was carried out to clean up the areas of residential buildings, educational institutions, local roads and streets. More than 350 residents of these villages took part in providing assistance to the affected families. Several roads were also cleared with the involvement of engineering equipment.
